What is a Refrigerant Gas?

A refrigerant is a working fluid used in the refrigeration cycle of air conditioning systems and heat pumps where in most cases they undergo a repeated phase transition from a liquid to a gas and back again. Refrigerants are heavily regulated due to their toxicity and flammability.

What are refrigerant gas sensors used for?

R32 refrigerant gases that are used in many air conditioners are slightly flammable. However, there is a risk of being burnt if they are used in large air conditioners as they are used in large quantities. For this reason, an increasing number of products are equipped with gas sensors that detect when refrigerant leaks are present.
