This 25% oxygen, factory calibrated, optical sensor measures ambient oxygen levels using the principle of fluorescence quenching by oxygen. This unique patented process allows us to produce an oxygen sensor that benefits from low power, traditionally associated with electrochemical sensing devices, while providing a much longer lifetime due to the non-depleting sensing principle.
The sensor reports both oxygen pressure (ppO2 in mbar) and O2 concentration (vol. % O2), the latter being calculated from the total gas pressure and the ppO2. This means that the sensor will continue to read the correct oxygen concentration, even during rapid pressure changes. As for the temperature measurement, the sensor is able to transmit the total gas pressure to the host via the two-wire communications interface.
