Sensors: CH4 Sensors

CH4 Sensors

How do you detect Methane (CH4)?

Infrared Sensing (IR) is the primary technology of choice for methane detection.
While a nondispersive infrared sensor (NDIR) typically consists of an IR source, a sample chamber, a light filter, and an IR detector. Typically, a second chamber containing a reference gas runs in parallel to the sampling chamber.

How do gas detection sensors work?

For individuals looking to measure CH4 concentrations, using a gas detection sensor or CH4 sensor is an ideal solution. These sensors all operate based on electrochemical sensing technology which allows gas to diffuse through a membrane to an electrode where it is oxidized or reduced. The remaining amount of current produced is determined by how much gas is oxidized at the electrode, indicating the concentration volumes of the methane gas.

"Easy to install, easy to set up, and easy calibration - just what I was looking for."
